I love monkey flowers, most likely because the name is so weird. Orange, yellow, and red are the most common colors.
Pomegranates start out as flowers, and then turn into . . . pomegranates! They are fun to watch grow throughout the season.
More spring plants . . . sage, daisy, lupine, and who knows what else!
White sage grows ginormous. It’s used in ritual smudging and incense because when it burns, there is a deep fragrance that is soothing and refreshing . . .
A climb to the top of the local botanical garden, under the trees, through the orchard, and to the cactus garden. The tall white blob – not too sharp in this image – is a yucca in full bloom.
The state flower of California . . . there is even a California Poppy Reserve (see some of my other posts).
I see this olive tree year round during some of my walks, but this is the first time I caught it encircled by the poppies.
It’s hard to stay home when the world outside is still blooming away after the winter rains!
